Playaudio12, also discontinued but you can get it used for around 300$, the newer models cost 1k…. Is an interface with just 3 digital inputs. 2 USB’s and the usbA for the midi controller. The interface is really simple. Tons of big artist that rely on backing tracks as a part of their sound have this, is called “redundant system”
It receives signal from 2 devices, when device A stops it switches to device B instantly.
Both iPads, send a signal “sine wave” constant to a specific channel, in this case #13. Both iPads must be midi mapped to the same foot controller, so every tap you do, is received in both iPads, so you control both at the same time. 2 iPads cloned per se…
So if iPad A, the main one, by any chance stops sending the signal because XYZ problem, it automatically switches to ipad B with no sound glitches…
So you press play in the pedal, BOTH iPads are on sync playing the same song etc etc… the like a beast disconnect iPad A and see that it will keep sounding… because it switched to ipad B instantly.
Peter added this function, because you need an specific function “sending a constant sine wave” that is being played even if you have pressed stop…
Take a look on YT for some videos, I had to buy that because I went on tour last year with a big artist, and part of the music was on BT, for some specific things… and I didn’t want to rely on 2 laptops, so with that interface, 2 iPads and a few cables I was golden.
It didn’t fail once… my mind finally stopped having the panic on the back of the head that. “Someday the tracks will fail”, and now I’m relaxed on the show.
