I can't reply on behalf of Peter, but the way he explained this to me, you'l be able to
assign every track to a mute group (or a number of), i am guessing in the same way you can set in every
track that it would or would not be pitch shifted, and then i am guessing theres going to
be a global mute function, so if you assign all drums tracks in all song to mute group 1, and click on mute group 1 in global setting, all drums tracks would be muted.
great!
however, i am arguing that this is already available to us.
currently we can route all drums in the tracks to buss 1, same goes for any group of instruments to all 16 busses
and like that we can control the mix.
personally i need a master buss effect, the one AUv3 i use (comp/limiter and ParaEQ) along with the built in Eq in ST3 (graphic on the master) has been good, i dont really need much more.
in ST4 I use buss one as my master. I use the same plugin and also added another graphic, that works for me, but then i realized i cannot mute all drums, bass etc.
My request to Peter was to add an FX rack (the same 4 fx for the busses) but he said its quite a thing to add, at this stage or later, and he will rather add the mute groups, as I explained, this is my assumption according to how he explained it to me.
It'll work fine, however I am still thinking that my idea would be simpler, even at the expense of taking out the processing fx on all 16 groups and just putting it on the master.
this way also you could up all the drums, basses etc in the mix of you get to a venue that is reflecting differently, or any other reason, and the mute buttons are already on those busses 🙂
I have no idea how much time and effort it'll take to do that, this is up to Peter and his time
and ability, along with his own vision for this app are whats in the balance.
My tracks are sounding great, I took years creating them from scratch, recording them and mixing them
but like every audio source, the need processing, they are not "mastered" they have life in them, they are designed to
sound as "live" as possible.
I also dont use a mixer I use a guitar modeller (Helix) that doesn't offer processing on the USB input and my guitar and vocals do get processed through the pedal.
I depend on ST3 (and soon 4) to offer this for me, and not only because of the pedal but if all the mixing, tightning and processing is done on the ipad, no matter where i plug it into, itll sound great and "ready" to go.
I just believe my idea offers better flexibility, quicker simpler way of getting that result, especially live, needing to mute is a quick opening of the mixer and pressing mute, raising the volume of any instrument globally for all tracks would be just as easy by touching the fader on the assigned group.
hoping is a good thing 🙂 but this is all up to Peter of course
