Wow, these have been some intense first hours of testing 🙂. Lots of feedback here and in Testflight. Thank you.
I would like for all feedback to stay in this thread like we used to do it in the previous beta tests. Yes, the thread will get quite long but for me it is easier to keep track of what I have commented that way.
byung when I switched to another song, the PDF was not changed
Can confirm, this is a bug.
byung Also, when I try to edit the PDF (click that pencil icon), it is force closed
Looks like a crash. Did you send me the crash report via Testflight?
byung BTW, I am using MacOS version
Please stay on iOS for the moment. The macOS version will be made available once the iOS version is a bit more stable.
AnthonyB My 9GB backup took about 3 mins on my 9th Gen iPad. You will get no feedback during this process until it completes
There should be a progress indicator. I will have to check that.
Damir Hi Peter, I have found numerous problems and don’t know where to start , is there going to be a special thread for reporting them ?
No, let's keep everything in this thread.
Damir Yes it could be more clearly labeled as you said.
Menus are kept short to avoid line breaks. I don't see why there should be different restore options. Both types of backups have the same file ending. The backups can only be distinguished once opened and analyzed.
Damir Why am I getting this message that hogs my screen and does not disappear , I don’t want or need to use queu so why is it bothering me ?
To remind you that editing within the playlist will not affect the queued songs. This is important to understand. But you are right, it should take up less space.
AnthonyB By default, in Network Sessions, every device defaults to the same Device Name of iPad (iPhones might differ - don't know as I don't use them).
Apple has very strict requirements that need to be met to be allowed to read the true device name: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/BundleResources/Entitlements/com.apple.developer.device-information.user-assigned-device-name. ST3 did not meet those and was rejected in app review. As ST4 did not change in that area, I don't think I would get through app review requesting this entitlement.
AnthonyB I'm going to assume (and I could be wrong) that it is best not to put all feedback in a single thread as it will be a nightmare to individually track, answer, investigate, etc.
Please keep all comments in this thread.
AnthonyB I've noticed that Bus Names are limited to 8 characters. Is that deliberate?
This is deliberate. There is no more room in the mixer for more characters.
Damir sing iPhone pro max I have had audio segments that went silent , no audio choosing another segment plays audio then going back to the other segment that did not play actually plays ok , this is a big concern.
That's not good. How can I reproduce the issue?
Damir The permanent loop next to stop start button does not indicate when it’s active , this is very bad as on the iPhone you do not see the audio loops on screen if in portrait mode and if your intro is permanently looped you have no indication to say you need to press the button to deactivate a present permanent loop
Focus is running the app on the iPad. The region playmode is displayed in the region button on the top of the screen. The button besides the play button does not show the current playmode. Only an icon to indicate that it switches the playmode. So what I could do is to make sure that the region buttons always scroll to the currently playing region.
Damir The thin song position indicator is pretty useless , because it’s colours and the highlighting is to insignificant to be useful on stage
I disagree. On the iPad I can see quite well where in the song I am with this indicator.
There is only so much screen space available. The question is what to compromise: more space for a song overview (possibly with the waveform) or more space for lyrics? But this is definitely one of the goals of the beta test. To see which option is more important for the majority of users.
Damir I don’t understand the extra Queue button that brings down another song selection option.
Then it's time to learn about queueing because that's the heart of ST4. The queue always shows you which song are scheduled to play and you can make changes without affecting the current playlist.
Damir And I don’t understand when I choose in settings, playback settings , queue songs on tap turned off why I can highlight a song yet there seems to be no purpose to it
The purpose is to prevent the queue from being changed by accidently tapping on a song. With this option you need to add a song (or playlist) via double tap or swipe gestures to the queue.
AnthonyB Possibly those top labels that contain the device output name need to be limited to word-wrapping to 2 lines inside that label to prevent this problem?
Yes, I thought I tested all possible labels to fit into 2 lines. Guess I was wrong. Will fix that.
Damir I agree with you , but hitting the mixer button and adjusting is not a major adjustment especially if we use a seperate mixer for on stage adjustments of volume, but I think loosing the fader has not really benefited us in the bottom section, there is still a lot of blank wasted area and other function I can’t find if I manually stop auto scrolling how do I then engage it again?
There is only blank area available in certain screen configurations (iPad landscape). On iPhone portrait there is absolutely no space available. So you need 1 tap to open the mixer. I don't think that's too bad. The other option would be to make the lyrics area smaller to have one volume slider always available but what exactly should it control? Song volume? Master volume? Track volume? It think the mixer button is the best solution for this.
When you override autoscrolling, a new button is shown to activate it again.
