I had the exact same thought after I introduced ST3 into my 5-piece band.
Given the low price (subjective, of course) for ST3 however, we just accepted it. But if you are running a large ensemble or choir without a lot of financial backing, and/or have a lot of different musicians constantly coming in and out, I can appreciate the cost adds up or you may get some individuals that baulk at the USD$25 one-off charge.
I certainly wouldn't be adverse to a change in pricing structure that saw a "Host" version go up in price and a "Client" version (that only has remote client features, no audio playback cababilitiy, etc.) go down in price. It could even be done as a Host price going up in stages based on number of remote connections (1-3, 4-6, 7+) along with a free client app.
Definitely a loaded topic for a software developer as while we all love to support independent software devs, no-one loves a price rise 🙂
