Hi Peter and all, as you all know we have some fantastic abilities to remote control our BAND/BACKING, but the problem is we are starting to have too many options which we like to use but are creating too many buttons to push while performing.
My suggestion is we start thinking about grouping these functions on to one switch by using single/double tap and long press facility on the remotes thus reducing the number of switches needed.
Example
I like to be able to mute my band Elvis style , simple hand movement and his band reduces volume and allows him to ramble on, and another hand movement and they’re swinging again.
At the moment we have a AUDIO MUTE function which sort of does this to extremes you either get F all or you are full on.
My suggestion for ST4 is for it to give us more control over this using one foot switch to replace Elvises hand movement .
Single fast tap on foot switch MUTES COMPLETELY as it does now.
A LONGER PRESS AND HOLD drops the volume to a pre determined volume setting in SETTINGS.
Another long press drops the volume a predetermined amount again to perhaps perfect the audio level if needed.
A SINGLE QUICK TAP on same switch returns to NORMAL level
This function to be restored to full operating level automatically after 2 minutes so it can’t be left in this mode to upset the next song.
In this settings area I would include some extra controls to setup this feature.
The time it takes to dip the sound and get back to normal levels.
The amount of level drop.
The ability to select which track gets excluded from this function, if running stereo, Choice to exclude LEFT OR RIGHT CHANNEL allowing the click to remain unaffected , not choosing a selection mutes both.
In MULTITRACK A SELECTION OF ONE PARTICULAR TRACK TO BE EXCLUDED FROM THIS , so you can assign which is your click track if you need it excluded.
This allows us with one switch to either mute all sound completely , all sound excluding click, drop the sound level on all tracks to a pre determined level and still have some control to drop it down more if needed, and a way to get back to normal level to continue.
All on one switch , not multiple switches , yes I have my volume up down which allows me to tweak my volume but I find my mixer master volume of BAND/BACKING is fine for this, yes I have my MUTE AUDIO switch but sometimes I just need a dip in my backing and it needs to be easy and quick, this way depending on how I press the foot switch gives me instant nice results on stage making me feel like ELVIS not like FRED ASTAIR the great tap dancer for those youngsters here😂
This is just an idea I had this morning I hope it opens up others to increase the momentum of improving the on stage control and experience, thus minimising our button needs.
Cheers Damir
