Assign MIDI channel to Stage Traxx 3?

Not surprisingly, I have assigned a MIDI channel number to each of my MIDI controllable devices, thus allowing all but one device to ignore MIDI messages at any given time.
I have seen and understand the instructional video regarding Bluetooth devices like the Airturn, however, I want a generic MIDI controller (not that it matters, but a Morrningstar MC6 Pro) to control Next Song and Previous Song in Stage Traxx 3. Understandably, I want all of the other MIDI devices to ignore these messages. Since, in this case, Stage Traxx 3 is a MIDI controllable device, do I need to assign a MIDI channel number to Stage Traxx 3? If so, how? If not, why not?

When you setup an action in Settings -> Assign Actions (https://stagetraxx.com/user-guide/remote/#assigning-actions), it records the MIDI Channel AND the MIDI event (see the screen shot in the above docs)

So if your MC6 is set to MIDI Channel 14, then when you set up the action, ST will only listen for the assigned MIDI event on Ch14.

So ST doesn't need to be assigned a MIDI Channel (although that is an interesting idea) as the actions themselves will only 'listen' on a specific MIDI channel.
