Hi Peter,

Im currently building a battery bluetooth midi playback controller for stage traxx 3 with an arduino. With the upcoming sysex support could you add a way that when the song is selected as the current song it can send a sysex message of the title of the track. Would be useful for LCD screens to see the current track, especially when scrolling through a setlist. My drummer could see the songs on the screen then select one and play it, without being near the ipad.

There is no standard way for sending text information via sysex messages. Sysex messages are basically defined by the device manufacturer. So you will need to create the sysex message yourself and then Stage Traxx will be able to send it.

peter Hello Peter, is it possible to send two different SysEx to two units in within ST4? I am trialing (unsuccessfully) two VL3X to accept different commands via SysEx on different channels (Ch1 &2)

Midimannz pretty sure the answer to that is No.

SYSEX doesn't go out on a Channel, it is universal (Omni?) and any device that understands it will respond. If you have 2 VL3X's in the same MIDI network, they will both receive and respond.

The only way I can think to make that scenario work (someone may have already done this and can confirm or correct me) is:

use 2 ST4 devices in a Network Sessions config
have each VL3X only connected to 1 of the ST4 devices (i.e. disparate MIDI 'networks')
use local lyrics on the Network client that includes the unique SYSEX MIDI commands for the VL3X connected to that device.

I think some devices can use some kind of device id that can then be specified in the sysex string. You will need to consult the midi documentation of the VL3X to find out if they support this.
