Hi Peter & All, I don’t use Midi for anything yet, because of its time wasting when programming it and it takes a lot of fiddling to achieve a simple goal and that’s to automatically control something external.
This applies to chords data entry, you have to work hard to get it just perfect on screen.
If possible I would create a faster method to improve repetitive data entry by introducing a pop up screen that allows you to see all the regular inputs of data needed for that particular song .
Example , if I have entered a midi command to trigger my guitar FX , next time I need that command I expect it to pop up in a screen box with it already available to simply choose , I would like it to be renamed according to the function it is performing , so next time I need Guitar Fuzz in a particular part of the song I choose a point of entry a window pops up and I select Guitar fuzz, this same method to apply for chord entry or changing lighting to a blue light effect, and even the video I would like to trigger to control SATGE CUE.
You can then long press on these individual commands to delete or rename them , if you delete, it removes all that particular data within the song.if you already have data in the song this will show up in the pop up box.
You have chord entry/midi entry/ SC entry buttons.
This way all three on stage requirement have their own master button for data entry, this creates a simple fast and unified way to enter the data, I would go as far as making ST4 to have the ability to automatically recognise Stage Cues show setup so if you have stage cue on the same device it communicates with Stage tracks automatically creating a Stage Cue button just like chord / midi button enabling us to simply hit this button and have a list of videos/photos we can then choose to enter in to our song with ease , again a long press on any video name allows us to delete all of this particular videos trigger commands in the song , to rename these videos requires us to do it in SC itself.
This way entering or editing data is simple and fast , midi works the same , all thee methods work the same but have totally different purposes.
At the moment midi entry is laborious and designed for computer nerds not for real musicians, chord entry you could say is ok but I am a bit of a computer nerd myself but i feel it needs improvement , well! STAGE CUE is here and it looks great but it needs to work closely together with ST to make it super useful for simple musicians without great computer skills
By making data entry much more simple and fast will encourage a lot more users to do things on stage and improve their shows.
I have Venus that have video screens available but I’m not going to torture myself creating videos then to torture myself even more to get it all working using ST and SC unless they work together very smoothly.
This applies to my guitar FX changes, to achieve automated 10 effects I use, I am not going to waste my time with complicated midi data entry unless it is a simple process.
Chord entry works , but it needs to be streamlined for ease of entry.
So I hope I have explained things clearly enough to perhaps see things from a users perspective and steer you in the Wright direction to make ST/SC super great to use off and on stage.
Cheers Damir
