Hi Peter, i did 3 gigs last weekend using iPhone on the first gig which went well thanks to lyrics only facility but i stick by my previous comments regarding ease of use in a very simple way, the gig after that was smooth as it could be using IPad and running in my normal way using playlist and pretty well fixed song list, the third gig was different beast i was surrounded by crazy guests that knew how to party, all 52 songs were pretty much random requests nothing was preset, ST3 almost pulled it off perfectly , being half pissed myself and booze flowing like Niagara falls i hardly remembered where the stop/ start button was, i managed to have one Fup because of ST3 logic in search, i needed to find a song urgently , i knew i had it and its name so i typed in the first 3 letters the search came up with numerous results but i could not find the song i knew i had , i scrolled down still nothing , i gave up and chose another song , this was a big letdown as i knew i had this song.
The reason this happened is , the search function does not show you the first results at all times as it should, if you have scrolled down your songs the next search entered will show results down the list and not from the beginning of the search results, this fooled me in my pissed state as i expected to see the first results at the top of screen , so basically ST3 did find my song it just put it way up off screen .This is a trap.
We need the first results to always be in the top of screen as they are the most likely songs we need.
Anyway the weekend gigs were great , after singing around 100 songs and drinking too much i lost my voice and now i am quietly dissecting the few issues i had.

What do you mean by first results? The search is a full text search. Everything that matches your search term is displayed and the sorting is done by the sort options you selected for that list. There is no better or less good match in the search. It either matches or it does not match.

Yes thats all good, the search has found the song, it just does not place the first results in the top view on the screen , it seems to default to a random placement depending if you touch the scrolling.
If you scroll to the begining of song list it places the first result at top of screen now if you move down the screen then do another search the first result does not default to the top of screen , this is confusing because to see the full search results from the begining you need to scroll down first to see the first results.
The search results should always show at the top of screen no matter if you scroll or where you scroll to, the next search should default the results to the top of screen with first results.

Do a search with 3 first letters of song , now hopefully you have multiple resuts , the song you need should be in view hopefully the first result, now scroll to see the end result song now cancle search and do the same search now you should get the same results except the song you need is not in the view in the top of screen it is somwhere higher up and to see this song you need to scroll again to find it.
This is wrong, first results should always be in view at the top of screen, no matter what you do,
Your default seems to be focused on the last placement of screen view which is confusing when making multiple searches and using scroll.
Make it that a new search always places the first result at the top of screen in full view.

I still don't understand what you mean by first results? The sort order you selected is used for the first results. So if you sort by title, the result list is sorted by title.

And the search is full text. It does not care where the search term is found. Whether it is in the beginning, in the middle or in the end does not matter. That's how a full text search works.

When you have entered a search and you find a number of results from that search the first song in the list disappears up the list because it does not default to be on top of the page, this occurs when you scroll down the list then make another search .
The search result of songs should always make the first choice best suited to be on the top of the list in full view no matter where you scroll to in the previous search.
At the moment the search results show songs that are half way in the list forcing you to manually scroll to the beginning of list to get the actual song needed.
This normally happens when you scroll through found songs , and if you don’t get back to top of page, your next search result in not going to show at the top of the page , it should always default to placing the no 1 choice of search to the top of the list.
This problem is an issue when you are quickly needing a song, the closest result to your search criteria should always be in view immediately to select.
Now it’s hit and miss.

Now I get it. Yes, I can also see this issue. No idea what's happening there but I will investigate it.
