Shortcut keys on MAC Keyboard

Hi Peter, you have a 3 finger shortcut to insert a timecode , this is not practical at all as it is much faster to hit the timecode button by a mouse click on screen , what would be a lot faster and practical is to have ONE button push on a keyboard to tap in the time codes giving us freedom to use the mouse to do other things at the same time speeding this up instead of slowing us down.
The other shortcut that’s badly needed on the keyboard is the CHORD entry bracket button , this would allow us to quickly select an insert point by mouse control quickly hitting a shortcut key to create the brackets and a chord entry allowing the mouse to be free to move on to the next chord entry point, this would create a much faster workflow, that’s what makes having shortcut keys worth while otherwise there’s no point of having them if they are too difficult to use or non existent for those important quick entry of regular data.

Single keys are not possible as they already are used for text entry.

Aha I missed it, but the same problem is there 3 finger shortcuts just don’t cut it , what are the function keys for I thought they were there to do this type of thing?

@Damir You can assign he extra function keys to do what you want (F13 to F19) etc very easily. Use an app called Karabiner. It works amazingly well. I used it for about a year then stumped up and bought a Stream Deck -- it's amazingly easier for inputting timecode, colours, play, stop, undo, redo etc etc. I hardly touch the keyboard now when editing files

DaveT thanks Dave, that looks great , but my question is why is this not possible in ST3 itself , I hate work arounds , creating backing tracks should be simple and all done on ST3 itself.

The problem with 2 finger shortcuts is that they are often reserved for macOS or iOS and as I want to have consistent shortcuts, I opted for 3 finger shortcuts that are identical on both systems.

peter I don’t want 2 or 3 finger shortcuts for regular input of data that needs accuracy, I want one button I can reliably and easily trigger otherwise there’s no point to the shortcuts , that’s why am forced to do lyrics sync on iPad because I use my finger on the software buttons directly , this works , on the MAC it sucks.

Damir If you are in a text editor you can not have single finger shortcuts as I already wrote above.

peter yes i know Peter, but i dont understand the technicalities and why it cant be done is Apple the problem again i dont need most of the stuff on the keyboard but i do need the brackets and the sync buttons and an easy way to hit stop start, i dont keed half the F keys with their wanky facilities, i always thought the F keys were there to accomodate anything needed for the specific software used, yes i need the letters and numbers and space to type but i dont need a lot of other keys, so why cant they be made to do a much more needed job specific to ST3.
I understand if Apple has made it that way , but then i would ask Apple , WHY? surely they want to please the end users, or is that asking too much of their expertiese.
