Duplicated Tracks Disappear

Hey,
I have the following problem...
I often duplicate tracks (and change the pitch, and/or color) for different singers.
I do this on my MacBook.
But after some time, (can be minutes, can be days) the track is gone..

My suspicion is, that there is something wrong with the cloud sync, as
1) this does not happen when cloud sync ist turned off
2) this does not happen when cloud sync is turned on, and the other iPads it should sync with are turned off!

Any idea?

Do you name all tracks the same? Make sure they have different names or else the duplicate detection in the sync process removes them because it thinks they are duplicates.

Hi Peter, out of curiosity does changing the Artist column make any difference with icloud or does it purely rely on song name?

If title, artist and audio file match, then the song is detected as a duplicate after running the cloud sync. So changing any of this will prevent the deletion.

The deduplication code was only needed during migration to version 3.7 as prior to that version songs did not have a unique device independent identifier. And I needed a way to prevent duplicates when enabling the sync feature. Unfortunately there are still users with versions prior to 3.7 out in the field. Therefore I can not remove the deduplication in case those users update to a newer version and enable cloud sync.
