I use multitrack audio backing tracks and have my iPad plugged into the USB input of a Behringer X32 USB's interface which presents me the 32 mono and 16 stereo pair tracks.
What I'm questioning is the best way to refine and 'idiot proof' a certain scenario.
One of the tracks in my multitrack backing tracks is a guide vocal track that we use for my band's rehearsals when our lead singer can't make it.
This track should be off by default in ST, and only enabled when I need it. When enabled, the songs that have a guide vocal track then plays.
I know that at a Song level, under Configure Multitrack Playback
, there are individual track mute buttons. I have lots of songs that I need to be able turn this on/off so this isn't really the right option for me.
I know that in the ST Global Settings -> Audio Routing -> Multitrack Outputs
is can change the specific track output from Diabled to the specific input of my X32 I've designated for Guide Vocal.
This is the way I'm currently enabling/disabling this guide vocal track. What I don't love about this is that I when I want to enable the track, I have to remember which X32 input I'm using. Keep in mind, the X32 digital input is presenting me with 48 choices so I have to make sure I remember the correct input (yes, I have it written down 🙂 ).
What I was wondering is if at the Global Audio Routing level, there could be an identical setup to what is at the Song level with regards to the track muting buttons? Obviously this is a possible ST4 request, not for ST3.
This would provide:
- A greater degree of UI consistency
- A 'safer' way that the current Disable track then re-assign track to an input, and make sure I choose the correct input each time.
Or am I missing another way of achieving my desired goal?
