Lyrics - Remote Ctrl - Assign Actions - "Select Next Heading"

Hi, This may be doable now but if not, is there a work around?

Ideally, I'd like to create a Heading for each section of Lyrics

[Verse]
[Chorus]
[Bridge]
[whatever]

I'l like the ability to set the Remote Control / Assign Actions to have Option to Scroll to the Next Heading.

It's an easier way to place focus on the Lyrics section instead of timing / LCR the entire Lyrics.

If this is possible now, can you please point me to how I can achieve this?

The only way to do this for now is to use audio segments , create your verses, choruses, solos, endings, then place a timecode at the beginning of each one and place text after it like SOLO etc you can different color it or underline it , now you have foot control to select whichever segment you like if the backing audio is playing then you have to wait till the end of segment for it to jump to the selected next segment but if you only need lyrics and you don’t play the audio you now have a foot control that will jump to any part of the lyrics you need either by finger on screen or remotely , this is a good way to run if you only need way way to select any section of text at any time , unfortunately this area of development still needs a bit of thought to make it flexible for all requirements , perhaps a change of logic in settings to serve the the way you like to run and many using audio segment start points to automatically enter the timecodes in to the editor so we can just paste the lyrics in to the appropriate sections of the song without having to manually do this as we have already created our verses / choruses and labeled them and coloured them this should also be automatically represented in our text editor so we are not doing twice the work.
Anyway that’s the only way I could think to do this and it seems to work , if I don’t need backing I simply select the song and jump around the text by remotely selecting audio segments just if you have combination of text only and backing required simply drop the volume down to 0 on the songs you don’t need audio.

Just to ADD to my previous solution.
I would never use text only songs.
They limit you operationally on stage.
Why?
Because you can not jump around the song by remotely selecting audio segments.
I would always load an audio song no matter what even if it’s an original full song with lyrics or a quick shitty recording on an acoustic guitar as a guide track, because you can break it up in to audio segments , label the segments and this gives you two advantages not only can you mute the audio and use the text only to jump around a song but you can easily unmute the original song to hear it at practice to refresh your memory in case you haven’t done the song in ages then mute the audio again ready for a live performance with all the lyrics available to you via foot control.
This is easy to create also because you are using an actual audio track to create the needed time codes which is simple to do cause you have audio feedback from the track , then at the end just turn down the volume on the audio on songs you don’t need backing.
SIMPLE YET EFFECTIVE.
As I said before, I wish that audio segments had an immediate input of time codes and segment naming in the text editor , this would save a lot of time for us that simply don’t need line sync but rely on segment sync , and Peter if you are reading this I would also introduce a timed movement on each segment individually so if the segments lyrics are longer than the screen, this allows each segment to speed adjust itself to slowly scroll through automatically , this should work well because the segments would be a lot smaller than one long song with long solos present which throw out the timing , the solos themselves would also have their own timing .
I think this would work on stage nicely .

No, that‘s not possible. Stage Traxx uses heading tags only for formatting.

peter Maybe for ST4 there could be a generic "Section" tag that people could use for whatever - Verse, Chorus, half-way down the page, etc. and then a remote assign option to "Jump to Next Section" and "Jump to Previous Section" so people using BT or Airturn controllers can move through their lyric sheet as desired?

Also, in text editing mode, what constitutes a new page / page break? I see the option in Actions to Scroll Full Page Down / Up... Is this just for PDF or is there a marker (or something) within Text Edit mode?

A page is the contents of your screen. So half a page will scroll half of the screens contents while a full page will scroll a full screen. It is not related to pdf pages. Only if you select to show a full page height as the pdf view mode, this will also correspond to a pdf page.

The section idea is something I could consider later in the 4.x lifecycle.

peter Thanks! Perhaps in the v4 future, if there were also the ability to hard define a page end - just simple Page Break or [Tag] maybe, this will make the "Scroll Full Page" Up/Down more usable while allowing the user to use this feature with a pointed target / result.

Damir, thanks for this great detail. I 100% agree with you and get all that you are saying. As you know, applying the above to 100's of songs is quite time consuming. For me, for personal stuff, I use Stage Traxx full out, but I am the vocalist in a band - and for this, I use ST to manage Lyrics only. That being said, I've created most/all my Lyrics as a text only song.. I'll have to read and see if I can convert these and if so, I'll just add the org. MP3 of the tune.. (good reference anyway) ....

None the less; Thanks for the detail as I am going to give it a shot.. Perhaps if we are lucky, we will have the easier ability to simply jump to tags in the v4 future...
