Hi Peter, I was looking at Jamzone software to see how they achieve certain things I still find awkward with ST3.
Things I didn’t like in it
The lyrics display system is awful ST3 is much better to use on stage as it’s clean and easier on the eyes I hope you stick with it and perhaps improve the scrolling to be smoother.
The audio segments display is very much like I was suggesting except it logically totally sucks again ST3 leaves it for dead especially considering you can beautifully create your own songs and segment them easily on ST3 , you can’t to jack shit with Jamzone.
So you can only use their songs , this sucks as I need different nationality song backing all you get is what they think you need.
What I like on Jamzone, when creating song chords you simply choose all the chords the song uses and they are presented to you to just play the backing and choose at the right time the chords you need and it time stamps them just like the song text, this is simple and quick.
I hope ST4 will have something similar so I don’t have to use the damn keyboard to type out every chord every time and having to introduce capital letters then lover case to suit the chords I need for every single progression, this sucks on ST3.
I could put up with selecting a positio hitting the brackets to indicate need for chord placement which presents me with all the chords I need for that song so I don’t waste any time to place chords exactly where I want them , the existing system is almost good just make it easier to choose the appropriate chord without the need for the keyboard too much.
I also liked the mixer idea in Jamzone where it can be quickly opened to tweak or hit MUTES /SOLO and release on the run , overall the software has lots of features I really liked but it does not tick a lot of boxes compared to ST3, which I still believe is the best tool for on stage performers even looking at all the top hardware devices that are also becoming available and following ST3 s steps, the hardware devices loose the lyrics screen if you need anything and a number of other badly designed things that just don’t make them worth while, I think if ST4 looks at all the good things the new comers are doing and uses them in conjunction with all the great things ST3 already has it will be still kicking ass for years to come.
Good luck with it all I don’t know how you do it , but keep on doing it.
Cheers Damir
