Playback indicator ahead of playback

I have just come across a very strange glitch. This only occurs in one multi track song (so far). It plays correctly most of the time but occasionally the playback indicator skips ahead.

Even then the track plays normally from the beginning but, because the playback indicator is in the wrong place, it cuts the end of the song off.

Any ideas what is happening?

geofflaw I think I may have an answer to my own question. This song is the first time I have tried using the speed slider to slow it down a bit (96%). I wonder if that is the cause of the intermittent slipping.

It seems a lot of playback inconsistency often comes back to the audio files sample rate not matching the ST3 Default Internal Sample Rate (https://stagetraxx.com/user-guide/settings/#internal-sample-rate). This is the first thing I would rule out.

Can you check and confirm the sample rate of each of the multitrack files AND the ST3 Internal Sample Rate are all the same?

Which version of Stage Traxx are you running?

@AnthonyB Is right. The most likely cause is that this song uses a different sample rate. Make sure all audio files have the same sample rate and it matches the one you setup in Settings > Playback Settings.

Perhaps if the sample rates don’t meet ST requirements there should be a warning so people don’t find out the hard way, just a thought.

ST3 already displays a warning when adding tracks. But there is no warning for existing songs if you switch the sample rate afterwards.

peter perhaps a simple solution is force us to just have to use one sample rate that way no more confusion, sometimes having too many options is not a great idea, if I buy an expensive camera I expect to use it’s best quality photos no matter how big the files are otherwise why would I waste my money to have a feature I don’t use, this applies to ST3 , i expect to get the best quality audio out of it so if I load a wav file I expect the software to automatically set itself up for the quality my file delivers if then I load an mp3 I expect the software to automatically adjust itself for that sample rate whatever it is , why is it we even need to worry about this setting , we should not even be talking about it. Isn’t a computer supposed to be smart.😂

geofflaw If you change the speed of a song, the time progresses slower or faster. But it should correspond to the playback position. Does this song maybe have files with a different length?
