  • Open Beta Version 3.1.0

I was hard at work the last 3 months working on version 3.1.0 of Stage Traxx, the first feature update for the 3 release. Generally I plan for 2 feature updates per year. Let's see if I can keep to this rhythm in the future.

Anyone can participate in this beta. The beta version is installed as a seperate app so that you can use the stable and the beta version in parallel. Here is the link to participate in the beta:

I still need to extend the user manual for the new features. Most of them are self describing but here is a note on how to use the new lyrics formatting feature.

Formatting lyrics

You can now add formatting to lyrics. Formatting is done through markup code but there is also support in the context menu for things like bold or italics. Following formatting features are supported with examples:

  • Bold: this is *bold* text
  • Italics: this is _italics_ text
  • Underline: this is +underlined+ text
  • Headers: Start a line with 1 to 3 # characters for headers 1 to 3: # Header 1
  • Colors: this is {c:red}red text{c} You can use following color names: red, orange, yellow, green, tealblue, blue, purple, pink

Important: Formatting tags do not span over multiple lines. If you want to format multiple lines you need to set the tag for each line.

Thank you for the latest Beta . Is there a way of restoring a backup from the live St3 into the new beta - there appears to be a restriction. I think It would help testing a lot.

peter are you creating another thread to post bugs, etc., or do we do it on this thread?

Hi Peter managed to figure out how to restore a backup afterwards so all sorted. I did notice though that before I restored a backup that in the Queue view that the volume slider was referring to the Song Volume not the Queue volume. As soon as I restored a backup (from the live st3) that the volume then referred correctly to the Queue volume. Also can you check if the default lyrics text size function is working correctly- doesn’t seem to work for me but I may be doing something wrong!

      Bugs

Please post bugs in this thread. There should be no separate threads for anything beta related.

      Importing backups

I forgot to mention that you need to do an in app purchase for the full version feature. This purchase is only virtual to test that functionality. No money is transfered!

DickyDutch Song volume is the default volume mode. You can change it within the player by tapping on the volume value or the volume title.

Default text size and scrolling speed is only used when adding new songs. Existing songs are not affected by this setting as it is an individual value stored for each song.

I’ve noticed that when in the Songs view and you tap on the ‘Filter None’ tab the pop up window does not always open. On many occasions the whole screen just jumps up slightly and the pop up window refuses to open. However it seems to work better once a User defined filter has been added and selected. For clarity do you think it might be a good idea to add the default filter ‘none’ to the pop up list as the first entry?

When trying to restore from a backup, all my PLAYLIST loaded with song files attached. However, there are no songs showing on the SONGS page.
Also, on the "Sond Details" page some of the text is cut off (top and bottom)
          iPad Pro

Just to make sure it wasn’t the backup, I restored the backup to my iPhone (not the beta version) an it worked fine.

            Good findings so far.

coopdawg Do the songs show up when you refresh the songlist? And could you post a screenshot of the cut off text?

DickyDutch I guess, I could add "None" as an option, or disable the button when there are no keywords defined.

Just to let you know that I used the beta version at a 1 hours gig this afternoon and had no problems- all worked fine. By the way I like the new lyrics text!

Oh, just one more remark: If you report any problems, please always write which iOS version you are using. Some issues might be related to the iOS version.

coopdawg I can not reproduce both of your issues. Can you send me more details?

peter Okay, I found the problem with songs not showing up, the filter was set to a tag I had created but hadn’t assigned it to a song.

As for the cut off text:

coopdawg Thanks for the screenshot. Interesting, I don't see that issue on my device. I will see what I can do.

I guess I should also reset the filter when restoring a backup.

peter okay, In my iPad settings (not ST BETA) I had the font set to a medium size, when I made it as small as it would go the text on the SONG DETAILS page was no longer cut off. It’s definitely easier on the eyes using the larger font.

Beta is amazing Peter. Wow! Two features I really like are: (1) coloring song titles (2) the widget icon in upper right that contains many quick customization features

                  peter stickied the discussion .

                  New beta build 4618

Seems like the beta is already stable. Only minor problems to fix so far. So this might already be the release candidate and I will now start working on the updated user manual for this release.

                  Changes

                  • Fixed restore purchases spinning wheel not finishing when no purchases have been made
                  • Fixed cut off text in song details dialog when enabling larger font size in iOS settings
                  • Changed color buttons to make it easier to view the selected color
                  • Filter button will only work if at least one keyword is defined
                  • Updated Airturn framework

Perhaps add a feature to the next beta: to the “pop up window” at the upper right, could you add an “edit lyrics” option? I use that a lot.

I thought about that, but decided against it as it could possibly stop the current playback. The lyrics editor has its own player and that would interfere with the main playback. So there should be no options that could disturb your performance in the player view.

I’m still getting a problem with the song filter function. It takes several attempts to open the pop up window. The screen just jumps slightly upwards when I tap on filter and doesn’t open the pop up. But after several attempts it then works. When I then close the pop the problem Return. I’m testing on an IPAD 6th Generation running iOS 13.3.
