I'm setting up SC to run alongside (but on a different iPad) with ST3 for my band.
What we want to do is for each song have a karaoke style lyric video that we will project on screens.
What I intended to do was:
- Produce 1 video that roughly matches the backing track length for the song in ST
- Use a MIDI trigger in the lyric sheet of the song in ST to trigger the start of the video
...and so far this is all working perfectly.
The first challenge I've hit from a usability perspective was this.
On occassion, a few seconds after we trigger the start of a song, we may have to Stop because someone wasn't ready or some other interuption. I have ST3 configured (Playback Settings) so that 'Stop Button Mode' = Rewind. That way, when this occurs, the drummer just has to hit his Trigger to stop ST playback, and hit his trigger again and we re-start the song from the top.
Obviously, with SC in the picture, I need to have the Video stop as well is this situation, and this is where I'm coming unstuck.
SC provides a Start/Stop MIDI trigger. However, if I don't know the current state, then toggles can be quite unpredicable.
ST provides the ability to send MIDI on Stop and Play actions, but these only work on hitting the Play button in the UI, and not from MIDI triggered Start/Stop, so these are not an option (or have I got that wrong?).
So I'm wondering how I solve for my requirement in SC v1.0.2, or am I'm adding things to the feature request wish list?
