Stage Traxx Using Double the Space on my iPad

Hi there.

A weird problem has surfaced where the storage usage of Stage Traxx 3 has doubled in size on iPad. The app and my audio files should be using around 12GB. However, my iPad it is reporting double that at 24GB. My iPhone as the exact same library and it shows 12GB.

I found a number fragmented backup files in my Stage Traxx folder on my iPad and deleted them. However, they were only a small portion of the wasted space. What could have happened with Stage Traxx that caused it to double in size?

I should point out, for backups I always export to an external drive. It seems like Stage Traxx creates a backup file on the iPad first before prompting me to export it to my drive. My guess is there are backups still stored on the iPad somewhere but I can't find them. Any idea how I could access and delete them?

Hansenhaus it looks like you might have made a FULL backup of your ST3 , this can double your storage use and even if you place it in the bin it will not get rid of the data till you actually EMPTY your bin.

Looking at the properties of the Stage Traxx 3 folder on my iPad it shows it as 12.1GB which is what I expect to see. However, somewhere on the iPad a backup is being stored where I cannot access it.

What would be the best way to clear this out?

Perhaps export my Stage Traxx 3 folder to an external drive and create a Database backup only?

Then reinstall the app and restore my audio folder followed by the data base backup?

Wow. The problem has magically gone away and ST is back to the proper size of 12.12GB on my iPad storage.

The only thing I did before this happened was export the Stage Traxx 3 audio folder to an external drive. Create a database only backup and save to the external drive. Lastly, I backed up my iPad to iCloud. That seemed to clear out the bogus file(s) that were eating up space.

Problem solved for now but I would like to understand what might have caused it in the first place.

I guess the deleted backups where moved to the Trash folder and still took up space there. Next time this happens, try to empty the trash folder in the Files app.
