Why does launching mixer station stop st3 playback

Hi Peter,

Sorry to bother you, but I can’t figure this out. Very simple question, when st3 is running and I click home button and launch mixer station, st3 stops playing.

I’ve done a soft reboot, and the issue persists, the both apps are happy to play together in split screen mode which is odd. probably a 5 year old iPad.

This should be a question for mixing station. ST3 runs in an audio mode that works together with other audio apps. Seems like Mixing Station does not do that for whatever reason.

But something is not right with the background audio mode. Most other audio apps will now stop ST3 sound output. That's very strange. This is an area of the code I have not touched for years. Even stranger: it happens on every iOS18, iOS17 and iOS16. So this is not caused by an iOS update. Seems more like the new XCode version I used to build the latest version seems to be the only thing that changed. I will have to investigate this.

A temporary workaround is to enable the Combine Headphones option.

Thanks very much Peter, this is only happening on my headphone jack equipped pad, not my usb c pad.

I have only devices with an headphone output and I can see the issue on each of these devices. No matter if I play sound through speakers, headphone output or a usb interface. I have still no idea why it is happening. The same code runs fine in the current ST4 build. But I have found a workaround and will release a fixed version 3.8.27 shortly.

Peter, that has been happening to me. I run a lighting app (Photon) in background mode. Occasionally, it crashes and also stops ST3. But I run Mixing Station in split screen with ST3, And it works perfectly

Yes, it was. Open the product page in the AppStore if you don't get the update automatically.

Hi Peter I updated to 3.8.27 and it at first appeared to have fixd the problem but I switched to Youtube to test then switched back to Stage Traxx and again pressing play does not start the track its just stuck?

So its better but still does same error.

I don't see that issue. Can you post some step by step instructions on how to reproduce it?

I’ve just updated the old pad and the situation is unfortunately the same.

Loading mixer station stops the playback.
