All the lyrics that I am importing to stage traxx 3 from my dropbox files or saved files are displaying with large spacing between lines. This is making it almost impossible to set a scroll speed that runs through instrument solos etc without over-running or falling behind. I have used Stage traxx 2 professionally for 2 years now and never had this problem. Both ST 2 and ST3 are running onnthe same ipad and the source of lyric files is the same.
what can I do to get the line spacing to be normal?
robby Can you post a file or send it to me by email? I guess there is a problem with line endings.
Damir Version 3.1 will let you choose if you want the reference line to be displayed on top or in the middle of the screen.
Use time code to synchronize the lyrics with the song. Much more precise than auto scroll.
SoloGuy yes I also agree it’s the best I use it always, but I also think this issue should be fixed as some people don’t need accurate syncing they just want a simple nice accurate scroll throughout the whole song and this issue does not help it needs a tweak I agree.
SoloGuy hi solo Guy, I use time code and love it but I feel that the reference line should be about 2 lines higher then it is now as the lyrics that are already sung are not important anymore but the lyrics coming up a crucial especially if you have a solo break with chord information it would be better to see the upcoming lyrics sooner.
What do you think?
peter Version 3.1 will let you choose if you want the reference line to be displayed on top or in the middle of the screen.
It would be great if the reference line never moved from the middle of the page so that the unhighlighted lyrics would move up and away but the reference line is locked in the middle. Currently the reference line goes all the way to the bottom before the page starts to scroll.
Sorry but for me, this is the one most irritating aspect of ST.
Hi Peter...sorry for the late response. I’m not sure how to post a stage tracks file here including lyrics etc, but I am attaching two photos ..one of ST2 and one of ST3...showing how different the lyrics line spacing is appearing.
I see, this seems to confirm my suspicion regarding line endings. Please send one of your lyrics files via email to firstname.lastname@example.org so that I can try to reproduce the problem on my device.
peter ok Peter...will do. Thanks.
I did take a look at the file in a text editor and it already has empty lines. So ST3 displays the file exactly the same as the text editor. It is not a line ending issue.
SoloGuy Are you using timecodes? Because for me the timecoded line is not going all the way down. Even in 3.0.
peter , yes I am. I use timecode exclusively.
Here are my thoughts on this issue. I have used ST2 with extreme happiness for the last 2 years and every song lyric has always appeared with perfect line spacing. ( Occasionally I have had to adjust the space between chord symbols to be above the correct word in a line, but that was not a problem.
Now ST3 is developed ..great with the pitch and tempo control.
But, I want the line spacing to be exactly as it was on ST2. I don’t want to have to worry or be bothered with timecodes, etc.....I just want it to be the same display as is ST2.
I am attaching a photo sequence showing a file from my lyric source (TabsHD app), how I use edit function to then share it to my dropbox, the same song then as the dropbox file, and then the same song again as it appears on ST2 and ST3 ( horizontal and vertical mode) .
If ST3 cannot be made to look like ST2 ( from identical file sources), I will have to continue using ST2
OK, I found the problem. It is indeed related to Windows line endings. Version 2 did an automatic conversion which I missed porting to version 3.
I did fix it, but I'm afraid you will have to wait for version 3.1 to get this fix as I will most probably not release a new bugfix update until version 3.1.
Well that’s great that you have found the problem. You can ignore the video I have emailed you now which showed further evidence that there were no empty lines on my lyric files.
Can I ask you Peter...how long will I have to wait for this update 3.1?
I’m a pretty busy musician and would like to use ST3 asap after purchasing it.
robby I aim for a public beta in February and release in March. If things don't proceed as planned, I will port some fixes over to version 3.0 and release a bugfix update in January. But as this takes time away from working on version 3.1 I try to avoid it.
