Hi

I just received and set up my Widi Master but my device is not responding to messages. Could anyone help to troubleshoot?

-Widi is connected to and powered by Pod HD500X guitar pedal

  • Widi has been updated to latest firmware
  • Widi is showing as connected in ST3
  • I have embedded test messages into lyrics. Example is [midi: PC56@13] and I wish to change to patch number 56 on channel 13
  • POD is set to receive on channel 13
  • When I load the song, the Widi briefly flashes, so I think the POD is receiving the message but the patch is not changing.
  • I have rebooted the Pod and IPad.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks

My MODX receives MIDI either over DIN socket or USB and I need to select which one to use. Make sure the Pod will not ignore messages on the MIDI socket.

peter thank you. It appears the pod only accepts midi via DIN, not USB, so I will investigate further. It feels so close - very frustrating!

So, over 30 years studio and live experience and it turns out I had the widi receiver and sender inserted the wrong way around on midi in/out ports on the pod 😂
Just in case anyone in the future makes the same silly mistake and searches for help.

Didn't know they can work that way. I thought power is only available on the MIDI output, so plugging it into the wrong socket would not even power up the device.

peter that’s what I thought too - I assumed because I could see the blue light then it must be correct. I’m not sure if the pod provides power from both DIN sockets or the Widi can send power both ways. Possibly a “bug” fix for CME if possible, to prevent the light going on when connected incorrectly.
