  • Stagetraxx 3 Play button simultaneously triggering iTunes to play

Hi, this has happened since I bought a new iPad. The play button seems to not only trigger my StageTraxx track to play, but also whichever song was most recently played in iTunes. This only seems to be happening when I have the iPad connected to a headphone jack via a usbc to headphone jack adapter. It doesn’t happen when I’m testing it at home (playing through the internal speaker).

On stage, the only workaround seems to be to go in to iTunes and manually pause the song playing before switching back to StageTraxx3.

I resisted moving from a headphone jack iPad until my old one gave up, and thought usbc would probably be a better idea than lighting connection. Is this a teething issue that is likely to be rectified in an update? In the meantime it means that I can’t do any shows where a sound tech or other band member can trigger the playlist (without me jumping in to quickly switch to iTunes and hit pause).

The same problem doesn’t happen with my iPhone (also usbc).

I have never heard about an issue like this before. Can you try another brand usb-c to audio adapter? Or a usb audio interface?

Is there a setting either in ITunes or ST3 that can prevent other apps working when using? I can’t find anything.

Oddly this doesn’t happen every time…but I haven’t figured out what causes it. It seems to happen most when I have finished sound check, have closed the iPad (to save battery), and then only happens when I re open the iPad (so a band member can trigger the first track at the start of the show).

Interestingly, I was using ST3 on my iPhone for two gigs when my iPad had broken. When we started sound checking, as well as playing the ST3 track it also started playing a podcast I had most recently been listening to. I’m wondering if the new iPhone/iPad/IOS is interacting with the usbc-jack converter somehow?

I am making sure all other apps except ST3 are closed, the Bluetooth is off and the iPad is in airplane mode. I will rig things up, have another go and report back.

I’m fairly certain it’s down the the actual usbc to female aux adapter I’m using. Have just tested a different one which doesn’t trigger iTunes to play. The previous adapter did it the first time I used it, but then didn’t the next few times I tested it. I am still unable to decipher why this is inconsistent, but will make sure not to use that particular adapter again (and hope this has fixed the problem).

Good to know that the other adapter works.
