iCloud Sync

Hi guys,

I have used ST for many years on my iPad and don ea lot of gig with it. I migrated over to ST3 lat year and it continued to work really well.

A while back I downloaded the app on my iPhone to see if it would be helpful I som situation. What happened was that for some reason the iCloud Sync was f-ed up and the empty iPhone became "the reference" and all the content on the iPad is now gone. I think the issue might have been that I, with out thinking about it, activated iCloud Sync first on my empty iPhone and then on the iPad.

Yes I know, I should have done backup....but I didn't. Now I have a gig in 2 days and is a bit stressed about it? Does someone have any idea howe to handle this and get back the content on my iPad?

You could restore a backup. If you enabled iCloud based backups, your devices backup every time they are connected to wifi and a charger. If the last backup was done before you activated iCloud, you will be able to restore everything.

And yes, the cause for your data loss is that you first enabled iCloud sync on the empty iPhone and then enabled iCloud sync and confirmed the data deletion warning by pressing the red button. I really don't know how I could make that safer.

Hi Peter,

Thank a lot for answering. Unfortunately I realised this way too late to be able to save it with a restore. I just have to file this under "learning by doing" and make sure not to do it again. I have no clue how I could have missed the warning on the iPad, but I must have clicked without reading it, as one might do from time to time. 🤦‍♂️ But now both iPad and iPhone is synced with the playlist for tomorrow's gig.
