Hello - I'm trying to bring down the volume of certain tracks in my Multi-track songs, but the slider doesn't seem to be having any effect whatsoever. I tried pulling it down as far as it would go, and the volume remains exactly the same. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?
Track-Level Volume Adjustment Not Working?
Which slider do you change? The volume slider of a single track?
peter Hi Peter, here's a screenshot of the slider I'm speaking of. It's the individual track (on multitrack). I'm trying lower the volume of a single track but it's not doing anything. I've raised it all the way up and lowered it all the way down and it stays the same.
For the record, I've tried using every device I'm running ST3 on, including iPad 9, Macbook Pro, and iPhone 14.
That's strange. I can immediately hear the difference on all my devices. Mute all other tracks and then change the volume on the one unmuted track. You should hear the change while moving the slider.
Hi Peter - it took me a long time but I stumbled upon the reason I couldn't adjust volume on the individual tracks and I wanted to leave this solution here for others.
Forever (since we began using StageTraxx in the fall of '22, we've had extremely LOW volume output, no matter what I tried. And, like I said above, we could NOT adjust the volume of individual tracks at all.
Then I saw someone suggest that volume issues could be fixed by turning off the "Combine USB & Headphone Outputs" option. I never knew what that button did so I left it ON by default. Well, turning that OFF immediately fixed ALL the volume problems. Suddenly we had significantly more volume output AND the individual track volumes could be adjusted. I never saw anything about this mentioned in the support manual - I just saw someone mention this in another volume-related thread. But that totally worked!
For reference, the device we use is an iPad 9th generation with the headphone jack out.
Good that you found a solution for your problem. The strange thing is that for me all volume settings work fine when I enable that option. Do you have an iPad without headphone socket? Maybe these issues only occur on newer iPads?
peter No, we have the iPad with the headphone jack, (9th generation.) Not sure why that fixed it - but the volume thing has been a huge problem for us since the beginning. We always have venues asking us if there's any way to get more volume out of our iPad, and we had it gained way up which caused a bad humming. Once we turned off the Combine setting, the volume went WAY up and we were able to gain down the track, which eliminated the hum. It was a happy accident that we found that.
