Hi Peter, here are my thoughts about improving Lyrics Only , using Audio Segments fantastic feature.
At the moment it’s all doable but it’s slow and time consuming, to improve the work flow I suggest that you implement a feature when creating audio segments that you can press a button to automatically send the beginning time codes to the lyrics editor of all segments this then gives us a very quick way of copy pasting the lyrics in to their appropriate time settings making it easy and fast.
Example I have my own song and I haven’t recorded it yet so I have no audio of this new creation , I can simply record myself on a simple audio recorder and create a shitty version of my new creation which becomes my timeline audio, I then load in this shitty recording to ST3 , go to audio region editor and create my audio regions hit a button to send the time codes to the Lyrics editor then place my verses, choruses, lyrics under these time codes and now mute the song Audio of the shitty recording and now I have a great LYRICS ONLY song with automated scrolling.
The time codes could be displayed as the region names for easy recognition in the editor they can be deleted and renamed which automatically updates the names in the region editor.
This sort of operation simplifies workflow not just for the Lyrics Only users but for all other types of user needs all you do is either mute or unmute your backing.
The main thing is you can quickly do this process.
Then all users can use audio segments for a great on stage experience, Lyrics Only users can just jump to any part of lyrics within the song and if they want a scroll just hit start and the scroll will move to the tempo and time settings to exactly be in sync with the audio that’s behind the scenes is doing all the work.
For those really lazy operators yes you can still just load a text set a length time and hit play but you have no ability to control anything after that you are fixed and limited.
With using audio regions you can go to any part of the song on the run.
Improving the speed of creation of this would encourage all serious users of ST3 to use this one method.
