Damir I do like your idea. I have been setting up ST3 as a hybrid solution for my shows. I don't want or need every song to have backtracks as I like to use a looper pedal to build up sections of songs. I do like the backtrack functions and eventually I'm going to use them, but I really like the flexibility of NOT being married to playback or timecode and instead using ST3 as a robust lyrics viewer for songs that I haven't had a chance to full memorize. I know there's other lyric apps out there, but I just like ST3 🙂 Hopefully I can work out a way to do what I'm trying to do. Otherwise, it just puts the onus back on myself to learn lyrics to new songs faster.
The other part of the equation (for me) is that sometimes I will be performing with a drummer, but I don't get to rehearse with the two guys who rotate in with me. I'm not the type of MD that gets super bent out of shape if someone plays a section too long or too short as long as we're making the song sound good, so the ability to jump in and out of loops and get to other song sections is SUPER crucial as I start integrating ST3 into what I'm doing. It's just a lot of pre-planning and pre-production. Ultimately I want the live show to still "feel" live while having some help from the app both in prompting me on dense, hard-to-memorize lyrics and help in keeping me and a drummer on the same page while using the app as a lightweight anchor if that makes sense. So like, if I can figure out a way to tap a foot switch to "highlight next" that would be amazing. I see it kind of like being a Bank Increase or Bank Decrease command on a multiFX unit. I just want to increase the "bank" of lyrics that are highlighted. And I/we may not be playing to a click or any kind of timecode, so I need to be able to do that manually.
