Want to use headphone out + Lightning to usb C into DAC

I have ipod touch
I want to use the headphone out for stereo clock and cues
PLUS
lighting out to usbc converter into a DAC
It appears that stagetraxx does not recognize the dac, correct?
Is there a technical spec that I should look for in choosing an "interface " that will be recognized?

I found that ST3 want all of the parts plugged in before it shows up. Makes sense. Maybe this is the issue?

Any DAC compatible with iOS should work. If it is running with other apps, try to disable the Combine Headphones option. Some DACs like the lightning to audio adapter don‘t work in that mode.
