Scrolling PDF, Lyrics created marker and Sections from Ableton

Hi Peter,

I just bought ST3, and even though it seems to be a very good app, I have run into som small issues that maybee could be candidates for new features in the future (or perhaps just me needing to look into the manual one more time) 🙂.

The first is to be able to scroll PDF files continuously instead of the current sudden jumps through sections. (The same way you can scroll Lyrics with a factor ₁.2 from start to end of number). I am not so keen on the "sudden shift" in the PDF, if I use tags. I would assume that it would be a one page PDF.

The second is in the songlist I can see if a PDF is attached to the song, written in blue beneath the Time of the song. But I can not see, if a Lyrics is created/attached, or if there are no lyrics at all? (If I have imported a large number of songs, and I need to keep tab on which songs I still need to add lyrics and timecodes to, then it would be nice to be able to see that in the Songs overview.)

The third is mainly for the documentation - is it possible to import and use Sections from ie. Ableton live in songs? (I find It is much easier to create and work with sections there, and if I could import these when I imported the song it would be great!)

Thanks for the suggestions. Scrolling in PDF documents works different to lyrics. In plain text lyrics you can only scroll up or down. In PDF files you can also scroll left and right (depending on the zoom level). Therefore the scrolling works by specifying an area that needs to be visible. The viewer will then take care of repositioning the document. But this prevents a continuous scrolling.

I never thought about showing an indicator for plain text lyrics as this is the default. I will think about this for version 4.

I don't plan to implement direct support of the Ableton file format. If Ableton can export markers in WAV or AIF files like Logic, then you can already import those.

For Ableton Live users I would recommend to use this https://timestamps.me/
Drag and drop als file and then press "High Precision". That way you can download csv file with timestamps based on markers. Time formatting is not exactly like in ST3, unfortunately. But it's a quick way to make precise regions and midi automation.
