which ipad for stage traxx3

hi i am looking to go to ipad with stagetraxx 3 i understand an ipad pro 10.5 inch will work, will a 9thgeneration ipad work i think they have ios15, also how do i connect my ipad to my mixer desk, and what are these air foot switches iv heard of for starting tracks, and if i get ipad pro if its 1st generation is it likely to b obselete quickly due to software upgrades? and whicj ipad pro or 9th gen have headphone sockets as i assume i could connect that to my mixer? wow lol

rockit yes that will work fine as it’s only 2 years old so will be able to run the latest iOS.
There are many wireless midi footswitches that you can get to control pretty much all of ST3 functionality. See the assign actions in settings for a complete list. I’ve used the xsonic airstep and currently use the Morningstar mc6 pro but depending on the number of footswitches you need, there are cheaper options.
Depending what mixer you have and how many tracks you want to send, you can connect via a lightning to usb connector or if you get the 9th gen it’s the last with a head phone Jack so you could connect via that to 1/4” or XLR. Also no need to ask the same question 4 times 🙂

Lishy thanks so thats the 9th gen is ok it says 64g memory is that ample to run stagetraxx?

rockit well that depends on how many songs you intend on having and in what format (lyrics only, stereo, multitrack etc)

rockit my understanding using mp3 is if you save at 128 bit you get two paths left and right each being at 64bit each so if you save at 256bit you actually get two 128 bit stereo paths , so you are not saving data you are just decreasing your quality of audio if you go stereo with lower bit rate , I always use maximum 320 bit in stereo , I could actually go one step better 320 bit mono and get best quality with same data amount as I run mono to PA anyway. But I couldn’t be bothered as all my files are stereo , too much work for little reward, memory is cheap I wish I could buy some to improve my memory to remember lyrics 😂

Lishy great thanks i would need around 40 songs at a gig all single track mp3 with lyrics probs from pdfs?

Lishy ps i am assuming i could store somgs and lyrics off the ipad ie on say usb or lap top so only have the 40 songs for each gig on the i pad? or will i need all my usable somgs on there at all times?

rockit 64gb will be more than enough in that case then.

rockit you can store them yes but when you have so few songs you wouldn’t need to for space reasons.

Eanna I had the full smart version but really could’ve just used the lite.
It depends if you just need Bluetooth connectivity then get the lite or if you want all the hard ins/outs of the full version then get the smart.
