Hi Peter, i have sat down and thought about LYRICS ONLY , i think i brought this up ages ago and will bring it up again.
The way you have it now creating Lyrics only files has no real advantage compared to using stereo files which actually gives you more operational advantage if you need lyrics only you are better off with stereo files, why?
Firstly you can point a stereo audio file to ST3 and you get a song file created automatically, you don't get that with lyrics only.
If you create lyrics only song you are actually missing out on very powerful features you could easily use with Lyrics Only mode, at the moment you create a pdf or load a text file you set a time and thats it, now you are limited to manoeuvring through the song without any real control, you cant simply hit a loop called VERSE 2 and get your lyrics , in song mode you can, this gives you absolute quick freedom to jump to any part ant any time if you are in stop mode , but you could run with time stamp and choose your lyrics as required , with lyrics only as is , does not allow you to quickly jump to 3rd pdf page by simply using loop points , you cant simply get to an ending and finish a song etc etc you get the picture, so LYRICS ONLY does not have anything going for it so why wouldn't you use STEREO TRACKS instead, yes you can set a time in Lyrics Only but you can load the original audio song you are performing and load that in turn the volume of this track right down and use it as a guide track to create loops which will break down your lyrics nicely so you can visually jump around the lyrics, if you have no audio track to add as a guide then just create a time you need like now, so if you are loading a .txt or a PDF files the songs are immediately created with the name of the files loaded and are labeled Lyrics only tracks but the difference is if you attach an audio file you get a more powerful Lyrics Only track where you can use the loop system for Lyrics Only which might contain PDF or .Txt , so you create a very simple loading system which allows us to then choose how we want to use the loaded file, this could even include multitrack choice, so when you touch a file and point it to load in ST3 you then get a choice of what type of file you want to create, this then gets automatically created and then you can add on extra files if needed , instead the other way around where you need to make a decision to create a file in song which you cant remember the exact spelling or even the name , so then you have to hunt it down and spend ages to type in the details accurately, but then you still got dilly squat , you need to then load the files in to this and if you stuff up one letter the two wont work. Its totally not logical to operate this way as its slow.
So my advice to LYrics Only Users, think about the advantages you are missing out on by not using Stereo File mode which is only limited by not having a time setting, but you can always just load the original song and loop it to give you sections of songs you can easily program to jump to with ease using the wonderful loop system and you can use it to practice with., and it would be really fast to create as you don't need very accurate loops you just need a rough point created so then you just touch verse 2 and presto you are on verse 2 , you cant do that with LYRICS ONLY SONGS yet the two are almost identical.
Hope this opens some Lyrics Only users eyes that are using this feature in a not so flexible way.
Can someone give me an example of the greatest advantage to why LYRICS ONLY Tracks are better than using stereo tracks if you need LYRICS ONLY.
Cheers Damir
