Just concentrating on things that are still not great.
If i long press on a .m4a file and share it to ST3 it gets saved and a song file gets created , this is great as its logical and fast, so why cant i long press a .txt file and share it to ST3 and get a Lyrics Only file created for me automatically, why is it to create a Lyrics Only file i need to create it the opposite way around where i need to open up ST3 and song mode hit + then name the song which seems a very labour intensive way of doing this, this also applies to PDF files , why are they treated the opposite to stereo files , you could also say multitrack files.
Why cant we have the same method of importing and exporting on all facilities so it avoids any confusion.
Example, you long press on a PDF and share it to ST3 , it is automatically assumed you need a Lyrics only song and a Lyrics Only song is automatically created in ST3 with the name of the PDF file , this applies to .txt import using send, and to take care of multitrack i would place all tracks in a folder , label this folder to the song name , if i long press on this folder and send to ST3 it is assumed its a multi track file and automatically creates a multitrack song with the name of the folder and all tracks get loaded to the multitrack in alphabetical order so if you have labeled your tracks 1 drums, 2 Bass, 3 voice, 4 click, 5 Guitar , etc thats the order they get loaded in to the multitrack, if you didn't place the numbers then they would load in alphabetical order.
This importing system then becomes consistent to stereo tracks and is totally simple to use as all requirements are treated the same , all we need to worry about is what do we want to import, creating songs should be automated as it is logical to what we are loading is what we want to create,
Sure you can have it the other way where you can import within ST3 and have to create a blank canvas name it then look for a file to load in to it but that should be an option if required by some people that need to change the existing files that might need update etc. but it should not be the norm as its slow and time consuming .
Creating the same simple and fast work flow method is what ST3 needs a good look at itself.
Lyrics Only is not as simple and logical to use as it could be.
Some operations on the interface are not user friendly on stage when using your fingers on the interface,
I have mentioned this numerous times and still stick by it, the drop down of main screen is not appropriate as it gets falsely triggered, and to bring up this window there is no identifier to where to touch to do this.
Solution would be a dedicated arrow pointing down to drop down and an arrow point pointing upwards to bring up the window. This has always been a problem.
Grey button in Lyrics Only songs still makes no operational sense this includes the queue volume fader, where a song text position fader makes more sense, so you can scroll with foot pedal through the lyrics or use the fader to do it by finger so you can still see the lyrics as you scroll, and perhaps just label the grey button NEXT SONG so its more obvious.
So far i haven't used it live but it feels solid, i am madly programming all my tempos, now that its so easy to do, and because of the visual click capability i am rearranging my loops to have really convenient stop points and reentries,
Looking forward to new additions.
Good on ya Pete !
