Midi with lightkey and ST3

Hi All, Just wondering if anyone here is using ST3 with light key, what I am trying to do is link each song on ST3 with a cue on light key , and trigger them individually, I have tried embedding the midi in the song as shown by Peter in the youtube vid with no success, the trouble is ever time I hit the Play button on ST3 it sends the same cc for every song which won’t work if I wanted to switch songs mid set.

So to recap on what I am trying to accomplish is to link each song in ST3 with the corresponding cue in lightkey, hope that make sense, I have tried on multiple occasions to get a response from lightkey but it appears they dont have as good a response as when I Email Pete which thankfully is very fast. any help would be appreciated

If you need song specific commands to be fired up, I suggest you use timed midi messages with a timestamp 00:00.00. This will send them at the start of the song.

Or is your problem that lightkey does not react to midi messages at all?

peter Hi Peter, Not sure where the the problem is but if I put the midi into the lyrics it will trigger in lightkey but then when I press the start button in ST its the same midi code for every song that is pushed from ST, now that shouldn’t effect the the original embedded midi that is in the lyrics but it dose somehow.

All I what to do is link each song with the corresponding lighting cue in lightkey, lets say I have a 48 song set list and I have 48 corresponding lighting cues I should be able to put a different midi note or cc into each song to trigger each one whatever song I pick , BTW lightkey is on my macbook pro and I have ST on my Ipad which I run my show from I also have ST on my macbook pro they are linked with midimitter on my ipad and IAC on my macbook pro which runs smoothly. I have had 0 help from lightkey

It is probably something that I am doing wrong but I can’t see what, it is driving me nuts

Make sure you do not have a midi command for play setup in Settings > Playback Settings. That is always the same for every song.

Please post the midi commands you use in lyrics for two different songs here so that I can troubleshoot.

I think you have it Peter I took all my midi settings out of load play and stop on ST which I use for my fx on my mixer and just input midi on to lyrics for a couple of songs and it seamed to work , But I do need the midi for Load Play and Stop as global setting for all songs, and I don’t want to have to input them into every song, How do I get over that problem?

That's not a problem. Just leave the global midi commands you need everywhere in the settings section and put the song specific into lyrics. Both will be sent out at the same time.
