PLAYLISTS NOT SAVING

Hi guys...

Loving Stage Traxx 3 and think it is a monster of a programme written by a genius, but I am hoping someone can help identify what is going wrong with my playlists.

Every time I switch on the iPad there is a problem with the playlists as they are never HOW I LEFT THEM from the previous session. To clarify, I am setting up various shows on a set of 3 iPads (plus an iPhone for extra back-up), with iPad1 being the main host unit, iPad2 being the proposed satellite unit for lyrics and iPad3 being the back-up unit.

I have set up my playlists on iTunes/MUSIC on Apple before importing songs and playlists to the iPads, but every time I come back to them after closing down, something has happened to the playlists... for example today, one playlist has ALL the correct songs in the correct order, but EVERY SONG has been duplicated showing 2 of everything.

A couple of days ago, I did a remix of a song and brought it into iTunes/MUSIC, then into iPad1 and iPad2 in the normal way. I re-titled the first version of the song as HJ1 and then imported the new one as HJ2, switched off iPads, and then went to my rehearsal studio where HJ2 had disappeared from the playlist completely, but it was fine on iPad2.

I need the stability of playlists on my shows and would be devastated to find that any of my songs were missing when I started a show, so any help in solving this mystery would be much appreciated.

So are you editing your playlists in iTunes or in Stage Traxx? Stage Traxx 3 is not really suited to follow edits done in iTunes so I would strongly suggest importing your songs directly into ST3 and then doing all the playlist management in there instead of iTunes.

That makes sense... I was creating playlists in iTunes, then going to +song but instead of importing just a song, I used what I thought was a shortcut and scrolled down to import a full playlist instead.

So if I go back and import all 400-500 songs into the ST3 library, THEN create the playlists in ST3, it should be more stable. Thanks... will try that now.

Seems I have uncovered another part of the problem.

While deleting my playlists on ST3 to start again, I intended to copy the set lists from the other iPad which had not yet been deleted, but having switched them off to have dinner, I noticed when switching back on that the playlists were deleting themselves in front of my eyes.

Are the iPads in sync and therefore one is acting as a Master for this to be possible. It would also explain some of teh other tracks being deleted and some being doubled when I am editing.

I am still going to make the new playlists manually in ST3 to go forward, but need to know if there is a problem with one iPad dominating the other....PS.. no hosting is being used yet.

Is it simply the iCloud sync setting making them act as though it was all on one computer.

Of course. If you are using iCloud sync, anything you do on one device is mirrored to all other devices. That's the whole point of iCloud sync. There is no master or slave with iCloud sync. Each device can change anything and the most recent changes win.

Problem solved... I understand the system better now... I was probably thinking of the hosting system for lyrics at the time, but I see the iCloud thing clearly now. Many thanks once again.
