That would literally be Interapp Audio which is deprecated and will be removed in the future. There is no other framework available for this.

peter yeah. I was thinking of it like a separate ST patch bay to avoid your precious comment of having a DAW inside a DAW. Maybe this something out there like this already that works at a os level. Anyone aware of something like this?

But I don't think something like that is possible on iOS due to Apples Sandboxing security model.

peter Would Audiobus be an option? I know it supports IAA and AUv3, but my understanding it also has its own SDK that allows an application to make audio in/outs available in Audiobus. Could Audiobus be used a a patch bay routing to AUM? AUM supports Audiobus connections already.

The Audiobus SDK was not updated for more than 5 years and already leads to compiler warnings. These warnings will become errors some day. That's definitely not an option.
