History Problem

Hi Peter, after last nights gig i decided to use history to my advantage as it was my first gig at this venue and i wanted to keep track of songs i already played so i can create a future set list.
My feedback on history is that its awkward.
After manualy deleting all the background music i played in between so i could get an accurate number of songs i actually performed i tried to save the list in to a format that my Notebook app would open, firstly i could not do that immediately from history i only had one option which was to create a playlist , which is not what i wanted i already have tons of playlists the last thing i need is anotherone, so my suggestion is if we had an optin at this point to either create a new playlist from this new history list or to export the list as a simple text file which can be opened by Notebook or any other text app, now after beeing forced to create a new playlist i could not easily find this new addition to my playlists as it was labeled with COPY as the first word in the name so it appeared way down my playlists which was hard to find, as i said before if you placed the date firs with Copy at the end this would place this new playlist immediately at the begining of all playlists which would make it very easy to find and continue working with , like changing the name of the playlist to suit etc, after i managed to find this playlist i then tried to export it as simple text in to my Download folder so i can find it easily, well that was hard to do because the COPY at the begining of the playlist shifted the file way down my DOWNLOAD folder because i have lots of files there so again i have to go on the hunt for this file , once i found it i clicked on it and i got an ERROR OPENING FILE message so i could not open it , i dont know why , if its a simple text file surely Notepad should open it, so now even if i did get it to work i would have to go back to my playlists and DELETE this newly created playlist because i dont want it i just needed to print / export it from history.
So there are 3 problems.
I need to be able to export as simple text in history.
I need to have the name of this file to be numeric first so the file appears at the top of any folder as its created.
I need to have the file easily open in a text file app.
Sorry for the lengthy read, but its the first time i attempted to use history and this was my experience.
The last problem is most concearning because i just cant see the exported file i just get an error message.

Damir sorry Peter when I said it was labeled Copy I meant History which then ends up in the H section instead of the beginning of the playlists , which makes it frustrating to find , placing numbers in the name first then adding History at end of the name would place it at the beginning of playlists making it easy to find and getting on with relabelling to suit, creating a faster workflow.Especially for new users.

I have no idea why Notepad gives you an error. It is just a text file. Maybe send me the file and I can take a look.

As the history is internally just a playlist, I guess adding a text export would be doable. I will make a note to take a look at it.

peter Hi Peter i emailed the problem file that refuses to open in notepad.
It would be great and save lots of time if export of history was available in history itself , good luck with it.
Would it be asking too much to rename the files so copy was at the end of the new playlist created so the file is always presented at the top of the playlists or any folder it was exported to, so it saves time searching for the exported file, if its too hard then dont worry about it but if you gave it a try it would be greatly apreciated.
Still loving the app especially the looping, its brilliant and works a treat , i cant see myself getting on stage without it.

peter I tried the same thing on iphone and it works fine.
But when i export in ipad then try to open it it opens DOCUMENTS and creates the error cant open message, if i use the quick look option it opens fine, but if i just tap to open the file it seems to be pointing to documents not notepad and i cant figure out to why this is occuring, i can use share to copy the file to notepad but i cant figure out how to point all simple text files to open with notepad, any suggestions?

I will not add the rename request as this is too special for your specific use case. If you create the text file, you see the share dialog. There you can do whatever you want with that file. For example put it into a folder you want, or attach it to an email or whatever.

I am not asking to add a rename reguest facility, all playlist files exported are fine they all export with the playlists file name perfectly, its when you save to playlist from history thats an issue because Copy is in front of the date that places the file in an awkward place where the user has to hunt for it , specially a new user that does not realise that the file is named Copy at the begining and is placed in the C area of the destination, it makes more sense to have a numeric numbers first then copy at the end , this way the file will always be at the begining of any folder especially if people use the A to Z function which is most common.
Once the user goes to playlists the newly created file would always be at the top of the list so he can then easily find it when he enters the playlist and then quickly rename it to suit.
This request is for everyones benefit not just mine.

HiAmir, Peter 😊 I have an idea, why not print screen shot your playlist to photos to iPad or phone etc ?
Then copy paste photo into Notebook
Just a suggestion 🤩💛

NeilC thanks Neil, that would only work for me if a sang a few songs , possibly 8 to 10 songs because thats all you can display on the screen at one time , i need the ability to have a list of 30 to sixty songs , which means taking a screen shot is not the answer, unless i take 6 or 8 shots in which case it becomes to awkward.
Idealy i would like to save the history to a notepad file , but i would also like the ability to exclude the artist column as it makes no sense to complicate the list as i use artist column for other very useful purposes.
Perhaps thats another consideration Peter might look at, is giving us lust the history song list and a choice do we want artist included and even length.
I know i only need the song names when sending a list to clients.

I understand though, but what I do is print screen then save but you have huge list of songs I see ok bud cool just a suggestion hope Peter can spin his magic to sort it for you and future customers, I couldn’t do my show now without ST3 it’s just Amazing I truly love this app and I’m so grateful to Peter for building it and for his tremendous support and yours too as you contribute constantly giving ideas etc and helping to solve things you are a asset to this group 💛 😊

That’s because you are already aware of where it’s going when it’s saved so you can find it easily but new users that have no idea to what it’s labeled as it just saves it and you have to hunt for this saved file that you have no idea to what it is named is where the problem is and what I’m trying to explain does not work well, yes once you know then you know but the first time users with lots of playlists have a problem which can be easily fixed.
But that’s fine, if you actually put an export option in history, lots of people will use that and bypass creating a playlist first out of history so that will eliminate some first time users frustrations when looking for that saved file.

Yes, export option is definitely coming in version 3.8.
