how to handle first part which is solo instrument without backing track

The first part of my song will be played solo piano, no backing track, using one page lead sheet. The amount of time I might play this part is variable. At the end of the solo part, I want the backing track to start and the lyrics I've entered to begin scrolling.

I guess your only option with a variable length intro is to start the playback manually. Or maybe define a short loop with a click where you manually end the loop when you are finished with the intro.

After searching through previous forum posts, it appears that PDF and text files cannot be utilized within the same song. So even if I loop with a click over the solo, I can't then switch to using text for lyrics and chords. Is that right?

If so, the only way I can think to manage this is to have two versions of the song in the playlist. The first one with the pdf lead sheet, which would be opened and played through, then I would click on the next song (version 2) to load the text and chords.

Yes, you could set it up as 2 songs with autoplay. First song with pdf would loop the click and when you finish it would automatically play the second song.
