Midi track sync with st3

Peter,

Are there plans to offer the ability to add a midi track to the multitrack setup so we can play prerecorded midi for photon light shows? Or is there a workaround program I could play a midi track into photon with?

How about using time stamps
If you were recording a midi track (I assume in a DAW)
You could use the timestamps feature in the lyrics editor using the midi@ feature

Any DAW will give the exact timing
In the example below I have a
Bar 1 - 4 count in (drummer gets groove)
Bar 2 - A 4 count click before track
Bar 3 - Track starts

At the bottom you see the timing you would use for “Static Blue light” preset using the midi@00:04.486 in lyrics editor

What if the midi track was created in a DAW, and ST3 just sent it out along side of the other tracks?

Peter this is mid related i think i have 6 tracks in the free version which i wanted to try before i buy the unlocked .I have a problem with loading the time stamp to follow the lyrics as they progress i receive a message which is (waiting for midi events) .Am i doing something wrong or is it because i havent got the unlocked version please help

Seems like you press the midi learn button instead of the timecode button. This is the correct button: https://stagetraxx.com/user-guide/lyrics/#time-coding-lyrics

Sorry, I meant a full featured midi file player. That's not really on my todo list.

Easy enough, truthfully. Just slave up Multitracker with no audio tracks for the song. It has a MIDI lane that you can have start with a Program # in ST3 interapp. No problem at all. ST3 does the heavy lifting with the audio/lyrics etc. and MT does the MIDI lane pointed to Phonton2. Once program # is sent to Multitracker, it automatically starts the song associated with the program number. I may do a video on this sometime.

Yes, being able to have a midi track run alongside would be awesome! The timestamping is a lot of work compared to recording e.g. a lightshow as midi.
But I do recognize that it would maybe require some re-thinking from Peter as howto implement it.
Maybe someone with the correct skills could make an app that translates full midi-files into ST3 midi codes with timestamps? 🤞Then the result could be copied into the lyrics in ST3.

Wouldn't it be feasible to have st3 trigger through a midi bridge a midi player on the same iPad to play and then send that midi via midimittr to photon. Then you could prerecord tracks on a desktop and then send that .mid file to the iPad? Maybe a workaround. I'll start researching.
