Before migrating to ST3, I was using Bandhelper (mostly because it would run on my ancient iPad Air). That app had a couple of features I find myself missing. It has the ability to configure buttons and data fields for each song which allowed me as a player to see such things as:
the key for this performance
- if I needed a capo and where to place it
- what guitar to use
- or what patch to use
- customizable notes to display (like "turn on mic #5)
These are the kinds of notes I used to make on the sheet music in my binder. Not that I am paperless, it was hand to be able to store these notes with my lyrics. I know that I can use markup for my pdf scores, but that's not available in the lyrics section.
Another thing is that Bandhelper allows users to define separate display styles for each instance. This allowed the band leader to host a session so all devices could follow along, but individual players could configure their devices to show the buttons & data fields they want or need. This feature also allowed an "audience version" to resize to a particular screen and ONLY display lyrics. Very malleable!
(I currently I host a session and use my iPad to view the lyrics on my music stand, but configure my laptop's HDMI output as an external screen to "broadcast" lyrics so congregants can sing along. But all devices see the same output.)
Since ST3 is so much more powerful, it would be lovely to also have these performer-centric options.
Thanks for your consideration!
