Hi - We've been using StageTraxx since last fall and have really never had any issues whatsoever. But at our last two rehearsals, the playback has suddenly stopped on one of the songs (not sure if it was the SAME song each time, but it only happened one time at each practice.) We didn't notice until someone realized the lyrics stopped scrolling. The first time we thought maybe our drummer accidentally hit the AirTurn pedal. However, the second time, he had moved the AirTurn pedal out of reach so that couldn't be it. Having the song suddenly stop on us would be kind of a disaster at some upcoming shows, so does anyone have any troubleshooting tips? I idea why this might happen? What kind of issues to look for?

For reference:
Running StageTraxx on iPad 9, updated iOS.
iPad is placed on a music stand out of reach, nobody would have been able to touch it accidentally.
iPad is running a split stereo cable out of the headphone jack.
iPad is being controlled by an AirTurn bluetooth pedal, which was out of reach on the second instance.

Thanks!

Thanks!

ginacc the only things I can think of are pressing the stop button on the ipad, someone sending a conflicting midi message from their floorboard, or having a timed midi stop message set up within the lyrics.

There’s a midi conflict most likely
You’ll have to go through your midi set up
And lyrics if you have embedded the midi in time stamps

My best guess is also that it was triggered by a remote command. Maybe just disable anything that could stop playback in Settings > Assignable Actions.

jaytrax So we don't have any Midi commands of any kind set up. I wouldn't even know how to use Midi. Is this something that could have been done accidentally? And if it's a midi command, why wouldn't it happen each time the song is played? (It was random, seemed to resolve by just starting the song again.)

peter Thanks, not sure how anything other than the AirTurn could be speaking to it remotely. But I'll do some digging.

ginacc I am wondering if your buffer size might do this I know it can affect playback by creating glitches, perhaps with your hardware it is stopping the playback like having a spit the dummy moment when it reaches overload, if it’s set on a very low buffer size, is your iPad and ST3 software on the latest versions? Perhaps send the files to Peter to examine as it could be just this particular files upsetting ST3 , I have never experienced a total stop but I have had micro glitches which Peter sorted out with new updates.
Good luck with the hunt and if it happens again note down everything at that time to see if it’s just that file or if it happens randomly with any file. Cause this effect is what we all dread and don’t want to happen ever to anyone .

          Cheers Damir

This has happened to me recently as well. I think it has something to do with a conflicting midi message as well. However, I think it had something to do with the midi time stamps for scrolling the lyrics. There was one time stamp at the end of a lyric line (not at the first) and that’s when the music stopped. Took away the time stamp and it resolved.

I don‘t know. Timestamps should not be able to interfere with playback. My best guess is maybe a remote command or someone accidently pressed the stop button.
