Suggestions x2 for Lyric/Chord Area

Really great program! Have 2 requests / questions. .

It doesn’t look like the text editor for creating lyrics / chords will support pasting in images. That would be a great add on. Good example is wanting normal Chord / Lyric tracking, but when a solo arrives, it would be incredible to show that as an image, rather that having to use text version of solo.

Multitrack is also great feature. I pull files from Karaoke Version like many others. I really like the transpose chords via pitch change, but if I am reading right, that isn’t supported with multitrack. In order to do timing marks on lyrics/chords, I need to bring in a version of the MP3 backing with all the parts so I can hear lyrics, to mark times, but then have to create new MP3 with same name with only backing if I want to keep transposition capability, correct? Would be great if multitrack supported pitch changes.

Sorry I don’t understand your need, why would it be great to do this, all I can think of is you need the exact notation displayed for the solo so you need a pdf type display for this in the middle of a text type song.
Now that’s a lot of effort from Peter to do something that not many people would need, I never need PDFs within my text files and this would create more complexity of preparation to an already quite complex operation, most musicians want a simple system that lets them get on with performing as quickly as possible, I personally don’t want ST3 to end up like OFF Song that’s why I want to use ST3 instead.

But perhaps you can explain your reason more accurately I might retract my comment as at this moment I do not understand to why you want this.

Thanks for feedback. Having chords and lyrics on time sync is great. When you go to PDF you lose that. Tabbing a solo in text format is tedious and looks bad. Having a embedded image gives the best of both worlds. Chords / Lyrics are covered very well, but solos are also important and aren’t really supported.

mtnebo what do you mean they look bad and aren’t supported? I have some solo’s and riffs tabbed out on quite a few of my songs and they look fine.

So what i assume is you are proposing having the text editor that can import a jpg image with your solo and that you can insert the jpg file in to the text and time code it so at a particular timecode a jpg file is shown on screen till the next text line takes over again.
This is similar to how smartphones have texting.

Theoretically it would be possible to add. Might make file handling messy though as you would then have a bunch of images lying around. I'm not sure we should proceed in this direction. It is definitely quite a lot of work to add.

I agree, I think the idea is good and would be practical for some users but the file system we have now is already messy the last thing we need is more mess although it would be very messy only to those making the mess.
I think perhaps we need to wait to see how the new file system operates and concentrate on polishing ST3 further before introducing more complexity. I am really looking forward to auto syncing all devices this will make life with ST3 a lot easier.
