I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or this just isn't possible. The iPad goes back and forth from Portrait to Landscape when you rotate it, but the external just stays in landscape mode. I really need the external to display in portrait, but I can't find any setting to make it happen. Is this possible?

Thanks

Hey there, Really hoping for a quick answer on this one, we have the same problem. We are connecting via hdmi adapter with an ipad that does not have Stage Manager. There is no setting in our external monitor to change orientation.

I don't think iOS can detect external screen rotations. It will use the width and height reported by the screen. So if the screen does not report different values depending on the rotation, iOS will not adjust the screen size.

Ah, I need to look into that. Although I don't understand why you have to select an aspect ratio? Does that matter? Each pixel on the screen should have a square shape and that won't change if you rotate the screen by 90 degrees.

Here's a good example. This is what I need my lyrics to look like, next to a picture of the way the iPad displays when I put it in a portrait mode with an external monitor also in portrait mode

On a computer, I can use the OS to rotate the display on the monitor. The iPad does not seem to have this functionality within screen mirroring, and I was hoping to find it on the new stage manager functionality on the ipad pros, but I haven't figured that out either. That being said, a developer friend of mine took a look and said that Onsong has developed a setting to control screen orientation from within their app, as shown earlier.

If you can find a way to build this in, you will make a lot of people very happy. I keep seeing this feature request for iPads in general

I think I can add that as a setting option in ST3. I have added it on the feature list for version 3.7.
