Hi Peter, this is Lyrics Only Tracks, good look at itself the how, why, where stuff.

1 The double tap on a lyrics track does not work when you are in TAP TO CLOSE MODE, when you are in that mode you then are totally stuffed you can’t double tap to open the text you don’t know where to go from there as there is no visual indication at all of how to bring up your actual text/lyrics window.
2 when NO TIME SETTING IS PRESENT and you are in TAP TO CLOSE MODE the grey play/pause should not exist as it has no real value, you can’t see the text in that mode so why have it, yet what you need is a TAP TO OPEN BUTTON AND ITS NOWHERE TO BE SEEN . When dealing with simple lyrics only we need simple not confusing interface , no unnecessary stuff that does nothing useful should be present on screen.
2 The Auto play button should not exist, as it does nothing useful on a lyrics only track with NO TIME SET this applies to EQ button so why not give us IMPORT/EXPORT buttons there for convenience as those features are most likely to be needed on this type of file.

3 when you have a TIME SETTING IN LYRICS ONLY TRACK then you have a green play button available and a TAP TO OPEN BUTTON so you can see where you need to press to expose the lyrics plus you make the double tap on Lyrics Only available as well , so it is absolutely easy to get your lyrics on screen.

and you introduce the AUTO PLAY BUTTON again as you have a purpose for it now.

4 when you change colour of song title in song detail it should also be represented in song detail .

SUGGESTIONS - LYRICS ONLY TRACK
1 when you have a TIME SET the playlist/song volume fader is converted to speed fader where it’s in the middle representing zero speed sliding one way or the other changes speed, this would work much better for user on stage it gets rid of the useless volume fader that’s not used in Lyrics only tracks, and a double tap on it returns the speed to centre zero position.
Then I would use the scroll speed button area for an enable/disable auto scroll switch so you can easily turn off auto scroll and have your text free to do what you want without auto scrolling interfering.

3 the EQ button to become an export button so you don’t need to dig deep to just export this lyric, add another import button there so you would have four buttons there when using TIME SET , song properties, import, export, auto play.
When NO TIME IS SET get rid of the AUTO PLAY and have 3 buttons, as it’s not needed.

NEW FEATURE - PAGE SELECT

Basically it’s exactly like the loop feature but works on LYRICS TRACKS ONLY and creates 12 pages where you can program so you can instantly jump to the correct lyric position, it appears in waveform area like loops do except the area is evenly spaced depending on a number of pages used , the pages can be labeled and coloured just like loops, perhaps these points can be edited in the lyrics edit area so they are controlled lyrics not the TIME STAMPS so when you hit the buttons it just takes you to a specific line in the lyrics text, so it would create an easy way to jump around the lyrics text and seem like the audio loop idea but working with text only.
Imagine you are running a time lyrics only track you get to a point but want to jump back to another point like verse 1 just tap or select by foot verse 1 and you are there instantly, this would make ST3 absolutely shit all over on song or any other app, well it does that already but it certainly would make life very easy for Lyrics Only users.

I am writing this at 5am in morning and making it up as I type so if some things appear incorrect I apologise but you get the general idea of how I would like to have Lyrics Only.

Another thing, in STOP mode using a TIME SETTING if you are somewhere in the song a single touch of the same song selection resets to beginning of the song, this should apply on all type of song tracks.

On iPhone in portrait mode there is no means to enter song details so you can’t set a scroll TIME , why don’t you add this time setting to song properties in lyrics only songs so we can get to this setting on iPhone portrait mode.

In Portrait mode especially on iPhone can you place the DURATION AND BPM SETTING IN TO SONG PROPERTIES BUTTON FOR FAST AND EASY CONTROL as this window has no song details available ,

Then can you make an area like waveform or whatever that stands out FLASH TO THE BPM SETTING there’s no need for no 1 beat just a visual timing that’s there for the user to setup for each individual song so they get a tempo guide as they start and a switch to turn the flashing off if required.

The EQ button to be a load text and auto play button becomes an export button.

So when you create a lyrics only song you simply import your text set your tempo engage the flashing visual click using BPM and if you require a timeframe select a DURATION ,
When you select a duration the BPM auto adjusts to known number of text lines available, and flashes accordingly, if you set a BPM setting the DURATION IS AUTOMATICALLY SET FOR YOU IF YOU REQUIRE IT.
Visual flashing follows BPM, if you have long solos you need to PAUSE the auto scroll till you start singing again the hit START again to continue.

This would work well for performers needing LYRICS ONLY and are performing live, the BPM flashing is just a starting guide and maintains a rough tempo for you if you are improvising you should be able to speed control by foot to fine tune your BPM setting so the scrolling is perfect .

Anyway I have already mentioned this similar request introducing selectable pages in wave form just like looping , that would allow you to jump to various lyric sections in a song.

Basically we already have this all already , if we load an audio file, segment it and MUTE THE AUDIO, you virtually have what I really want in LYRICS ONLY TRACK , so really in a way I would be better off using stereo tracks for my LYRICS ONLY TRACKS AS WELL ,
Disadvantage is you use more hard drive

I can hide the crossfade button.

Adding duration to the song properties button is not possible because anything there can be edited during playback and duration is definitely not editable during playback. When playback is stopped, just press the (i) button on the song to edit everything.

The metronome idea is interesting and I will think about this for version 4.

The other things UI related are also something that will be addressed in version 4.

That’s the problem, in portrait mode on iPhone you have no (i) to press , that’s my point.
Wouldn’t it be possible to add those functions on song properties but have them disabled in Play mode and just enable them when you Stop, at least it’s much faster to use there as that button is present in all views.
When dealing with simple text files we only need very few things , a simple double tap to open the lyrics on iPhone portrait mode as that’s the device and orientation most users prefer as it’s always with them and the device can be mounted on most instruments like an accordion, acoustic guitar or just held in hand and it does not look out of place.
Having simple in your face control is what I would like when using Lyrics Only I don’t need stuff in my face I don’t need and is not functional yet stuff that’s needed is buried on another page and on another button that virtually does the same as song properties, it makes no sense.
I don’t need a volume yet I need a convenient speed/Tempo control of scrolling and my visual metronome , if we had one.
I don’t need a grey button to press and make my lyrics disappear but the Xfade button I need if I have a duration which can be used to get to the next song, and I would also use the same xfade button to use to select next song when there is NO DURATION as it simply needs to go to next song, I would have it behave like this , if no duration is selected tap once to select next song than tap once more on the same button to start the duration play on that song, if there is no duration on a file it simply selects next lyrics, at the moment you have the grey Play/Pause but as soon as you touch it it selects the next song and starts automatically scrolling it, well that’s not always what we want , I rather tap it one to see my next lyrics and have a choice when to start the Play of duration. We have an auto play button for that, this button if activated auto scrolls the lyrics if not activated waits for start command, this logic is more handy even when using lyrics only songs, basically the logic to be the same as normal stereo files except we have the ability to choose a selected duration of silence.

So to beak it down I want to double tap to choose a song lyrics in iPhone portrait mode.
I want one button that starts/pauses if a duration is chosen
One button like Xfade to go to my next songs text.
No duration Xfade chooses next song there is no play pause button on screen, if there is a duration the green play button is there and turns red when in pause.
if songs have no duration then the Xfade becomes choose next song, while the START BUTTON is your pause to allow for solos.
