BOLD text in Lyric Editor isn’t working

Peter- Recently updated to the new ios 16 and new app. When I go into the lyric editor and long press in my iphone to go to Format —> Bold, it gives me a star character * in front and an underscore character _ after

I assume this is something you program in, a very important function I use to call out song arrangement cues. I’ve been manually fixing it to * Bold * instead of *Bold_ but I hadn’t seen it reported here yet, so definitely worth the fix. Thank you!

Yes, you are right. Clearly a bug. Will be fixed in version 3.6.2. Thanks!

Hello everyone, has this been fixed? Trying it right now, but I just get the asterisk, no bold text. Same with fonts, colours, and other settings in the right-click menu. Is there an option to show bold text?

Snf works with using asterisks and by using the right click menu. Not sure why yours doesn’t.

Make sure you are running the latests version 3.7.5. If it still does not work, please give me step by step instructions what you do to see this issue.

I'm running version 3.8.22 on my iPad and the Bold and Italic formatting doesn't work. All I see is the ** and _.

Lishy Per line? What if you want to highlight (Bold & Italic) a complete chorus? Thanks.

teetosh you can’t do both and if you want a whole chorus in either you’ll have to do every line.
You might want to play around with having 1, 2 or 3 #’s before a line instead which will make text larger and bold or larger and italic.

Formatting options don't work across lines. You need to format each line separately.

Hi Peter, old post, but it's in the same "topic".

I put parts of the lyric that needs backing vocals in BOLD... so I know when I'm on Bass, I need to sing the bold words... my own "thing"...

What happens is if I have a long line and there's an inline chord, the bold markup gets lost and I see the *s...

if I try to replicate here, the forum will put it in bold... hehe

I would love to be able to change the color of the text, but I know it mess with color schemes and all that jazz

CapBlah can you post a screenshot of your lyrics as it makes no difference if there’s an in line chord or not?
Also I’m not sure what you mean by if you change the colour it will mess with the colour? You can easily change the colour of lines you need to sing using the various colour tags.

I did that in many lines, I can't replicate now. Maybe it was because of the sequence how I did it...
I went to lyrics, to replicate... then I decided to remove the round brackets and put it back and the problem is gone and not being able to reproduce.

The case was like this:

[01:23.45]*(here goes my lyrics in [Bm7]bold with an inline chord)*

It would show the stars rather than make the whole line bold. The chord was properly identified and placed above the line. Was only the markups for bold that I had to do a workaround like this, and then created the visual effect I was looking for:

[01:23.45]*(here goes my lyrics in* [Bm7]*bold with an inline chord)*

I can't reproduce the issue. Bold text for a whole line with embedded chords works fine.
