Yes, that's right. If you play a song multiple times, it will show up multiple times in the history.

Can I add to this topic?
I've noticed duplicate entries in the History tab appearing when..

I'm playing through a prepared "Playlist 1", the history tab builds up as expected.
During the gig, I navigate to "Playlist 2" to play a song from that, then
When that song is finished, I navigate back to "Playlist 1" and continue the gig.
When I look at the history, the song from "Playlist 2" is listed twice in the history tab.

Is there a reason/solution for that (other than editing my playlists!)

Are you saying that a song is added twice to the history when you only play it once? I don't think that can happen.

EDIT: Failed to reproduce this issue but found another issue where songs are not added to the history when autoplay is engaged. Will fix that in the next update.

Correction to the above statement. I tested with version 3.8.1 instead of the current 3.8.3. Version 3.8.1 indeed had an issue with adding songs to the history. This was fixed in version 3.8.2. I have now tried with version 3.8.3 and adding songs to the history is performing without any issues no matter how hard I try.

I do have up to date version installed.

I’m struggling to replicate the issue at home.
But it happens during most gigs.

So it may be more rooted in my playlist set up or my behaviours during gigs. I’ll work to try to more clearly identify the cause and will update the post then. Thanks again.

Hi Peter, here's at the history file from my gig last night.

iPad ST3 version 3.8.3 (8889)
Playlist 1: Pre-Prepared set list for the gig. Set to autoplay
Playlist 2: Full track library, to allow flexibility from prepared set list. Not set to autoplay

As you can see, there are multiple instances of tracks being duplicated in the History tab.
These seems to broadly co-incide with me switching playlist, but not always.
I switch playlists and select the next track while the previous track is playing.
I wonder is the fact that Playlist 1 is autoplay, whereas Playlist 2 isn't.

When a song finishes playing and was played for at least 50% of its duration it will be added to the history.

Hmmmm.. I'm at a bit lost for possible explanation then because all songs on that list were played to completion, but only once in the set.

I analyzed the code and found indeed a way to add a song twice to the history. If the stop mode is set to "Next" so that the next track will be selected when you press stop and you press stop on a song after 50% of it has been played it will be added twice to the history.

Do you run with the stop mode set to "Next"?

If, during autoplay mode, the app moves "next" to a song on a non-autoplay list, is that the equivalent of pressing "stop" and therefore would fall into your scenario you've found?

Yes. That's correct.

OK, then we have successfully identified the bug. I will fix it in version 3.8.5.

No, it's not. You really need to press the stop button to trigger this behaviour. It is independent of playlists.
